Maggie Cheung plays a fictionalized version of herself who travels to Paris to work with a slightly demented director (Jean-Pierre Léaud), who is remaking a silent film about female vampires and believes her to be the perfect lead. Immediately upon her arrival, Cheung is thrown into a frenzy of passionate crew members, hotheaded interviewing journalists, and the director’s own warped mind. Nathalie Richard is excellent as the costume designer on the set who befriends Cheung and is her primary tour guide throughout the world of the film.
