On her first night at a European boarding school where she is to study ballet, Jessica Harper is disturbed to discover that a girl she saw fleeing the night she arrived has been brutally murdered in her dorm room. Trying to settle into her new home afterwards, Harper is bothered more and more by noises in the night and creepy events until she finally uncovers the evil organization that the institution is a front for. Dario Argento brings his usual brand of gory terror to this excellent horror film, utilizing colourful cinematography and a rich atmosphere to tell his tale. It’s one of his best achievements, and Harper is magnificent in the lead.
