Happy Together (Chun Gwong Cha Sit)

Happy TogetherBBBB

(out of 5)

The tumultuous relationship of a Chinese couple living in Buenos Aires is examined in this exquisitely photographed melodrama by Wong Kar Wai. Although it runs longer than it deserves to, it manages to capture poignant moments of true intimacy between its two volatile protagonists, both of whom are amiable and interesting personalities. Like all of Wong’s films, this film was made without a written script to avoid the strict Chinese censors.
