Brilliant Dogma film about a turbulent family reunion, shot with handheld cameras on video and then transferred to film, fraught with tension with a capital T. When the son of the family patriarch reveals at the beginning of the reunion weekend that his father sexually abused him and his late twin sister when they were children, the house goes into an uproar of feuding and indignation. Paprika Steen steals the show as the younger sister who is devastated by the news, while Thomas Vinterberg’s direction is watertight, the writing brilliant, and all the actors bite into their roles with unapologetic relish. It will take ages for you to shake this one off.
