Serve up a creepy, gratuitously disgusting film like Seven with Brad Pitt and it is mistaken for tough filmmaking. Deliver a much more intelligent (and flashier) thriller with Hitchcockian overtones and two sterling leads (but no poster-boy star) and the crowds stay away in droves. Well, now you should rediscover it, because Copycat is a great thriller. A serial killer is prowling San Francisco copying the most famous killers of the century, daring top cop Holly Hunter and agoraphobic psychiatrist Sigourney Weaver to catch him before he adds them to his murder list. Jon Amiel contributes terrific direction that is compounded by rich characters and superb performances.
