USA, 1993. TriStar Pictures, Jack Rollins & Charles H. Joffe Productions. Screenplay by Woody Allen, Marshall Brickman. Cinematography by Carlo Di Palma. Produced by Robert Greenhut. Production Design by Santo Loquasto. Costume Design by Jeffrey Kurland. Film Editing by Susan E. Morse.
One of Woody Allen‘s most enjoyable film comedies. Diane Keaton plays a bored housewife who insists that the woman who lives down the hall from them was murdered. Allen plays her husband, an exasperated man who can’t stand what he believes are his wife’s paranoid hallucinations. The evidence stacks up, however, and soon he begins to believe her, and once their friends Alan Alda and Anjelica Huston get involved the entire thing becomes an adventurous investigation. Beautiful photography of some of Manhattan’s loveliest locations are combined with a healthy sense of sleuthing fun, plus great performances from the whole cast.
Golden Globe Award Nomination: Best Actress-Musical/Comedy (Diane Keaton)
