Experimental film by Chantal Akerman is one of her first features and far from her most engaging works. The first section sees her sitting around her apartment naked, eating sugar and looking out her window, followed by an encounter with a truck driver () and then making love with her girlfriend. Themes of alienation and the human relationship to environment are explored to the point of blistering frustration; it’s the kind of movie that looks much better on a museum wall. Writing your PhD on it would probably reveal much great value, but sitting through it is a righteous chore.
